Just yesterday, we learned that Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa was going to take a few days off after aggravating plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
But now his absence could be prolonged, since the Twins have just placed their protégé on the injured list for at least 10 days.
This means that the tests, including an MRI, that Correa took may have revealed something that was not initially known.
The star player was removed after one inning in his team’s loss Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, making a sudden stop after catching TJ Friedl’s ball in left infield.
By his own admission, however, the 29-year-old believes he will be recovered in time to participate in the playoffs.
I am very confident.
Minnesota recalled outfielder Trevor Larnach from Triple-A in what appears to be a matching personnel move that sends Correa to the injured list.
Correa is not the only one to be out for the Twins, as rookie third baseman Royce Lewis is also not in the lineup for today’s game, still against the Reds. His condition is considered day-to-day.
In what will be a first round of the playoffs far from easy, the Twins will need all their healthy players, including Quebecer Édouard Julien.
