TVA Sports will be the official French-language broadcaster of the World Baseball Classic

For some time, many of you have been asking us who was going to present the 2023 World Baseball Classic on Quebec television.

Well, TVA Sports has announced that the “Baseball Olympics” will be broadcast on the channel owned by Quebecor, ahead of the official French-language broadcaster of the Classic.

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the tournament will take place from March 8 to 21, featuring twenty countries divided into four groups of five nations. Canada find themselves in Group C with the United States, Mexico, Colombia and Great Britain.

It is against the latter that the Canadian representatives will begin the conquest of the world on March 12 at 3 p.m., Eastern time.

Similar to the FIFA World Cup, the top two positions in each section after the preliminary round will advance to the quarter-finals.

The final phase of the tournament will take place in Miami from March 19 to 21 with the two semi-finals and the ultimate match.

Japan won the 2006 and 2009 editions before the Dominican Republic won the title in 2013. The United States are the current defending champions, having beaten Puerto Rico in the 2017 event.
