The Chicago Cubs have just signed Trey Mancini, as announced by Jesse Rogers on Twitter tonight.
The former Orioles and Astros signed a two-year contract, which includes an exit option after the first season.
He will therefore not be back in Baltimore.
We can expect to see him share the first base with left-hander Eric Hosmer, have turns as DH and play in the outfield.
The World Series champion was not dominant in Houston, but he has experience and he will bring leadership to his new team, which is having a good off-season.
Recall that Mancini beat cancer a few years ago. He now finds himself in the same city as the one currently fighting the same fight in MLB, Liam Hendriks.
Details to come…
- What should we remember from the Bo Bichette file?
- Pete Alonso isn’t going to put down roots in New York just yet.
