Shortly after concluding his first season in Nippon Professional Baseball, Trevor Bauer is still looking for an opportunity in major league baseball. In the last few days, Mookie Betts made a media outing and hopes that the former 2020 National Cy Young winner gets his chance.
Released by the Los Angeles Dodgers last January, Bauer is officially free as the air, after serving a 194-game suspension for violating the Manfred Circuit’s domestic violence policy.
A member of the Yokohama Baystars in 2023, the 32-year-old gunner is still not unanimous in baseball’s inner circle, but he can count on the support of Betts, a former teammate (and everyone) who counts among the three to five best baseball players on the planet.
Although he concedes there are people who know Bauer more personally than he does, the outfielder has never been shy about complimenting the pitcher (and person) to the LA Times. The teams should also take the time to think about this issue.
“He’s a great pitcher. He’s a good person and someone who wants to be on the mound every five days. At the end of the day, I don’t make the decision. It’s one that’s not as simple as baseball. »

Placed on administrative leave since July 2021, Bauer was accused of assaulting a woman during consensual sexual intercourse. Other women also reported similar behavior. In the end, the man who also played in Arizona, Cleveland and Cincinnati had no official criminal charges against him.
