I don’t feel like I’m in 2023 writing such a text, but not all Blue Jays games will be televised during training camp.
It’s like that every year for all teams… and it’s illogical.
But at least Blue Jays fans will be able to watch all of the club’s home (Dunedin) games in the Pamplemousses on TV this year – and at all the games on the radio.
This is what Sportsnet has just announced.
Of the 30 games of the preparatory calendar, the home 16 will be on TV. As for matches abroad, they will be broadcast on Sportsnet (with the feed of the other team) if the opposing team decides to broadcast the match.
It’s a good start.
The club’s first preseason game will take place on February 25 in Bradenton (Pirates) and the next day, the Yankees will be in Dunedin. This will likely be the camp’s first TV game.
And as the season approaches, Sportsnet has revealed the team that will be tasked with reporting, analyzing and presenting Jays games.
If Ben Wagner will be alone on the radio, we note that Dan Shulman will take care of the description of the matches on TV. Most of the time, Buck Martinez will be in the analysis, but Joe Siddall will replace him when needed.
Otherwise, Siddall and Caleb Joseph will split the job as pre-game and post-game analysts. Jamie Campbell will host these segments.
Finally, note that Hazel Mae retains his position as field journalist, but it is Arden Zwelling who will replace Arash Madani for the matches that Hazel will not play.
The table is therefore set for the return of the ball. Can’t wait for the start of the camps…
