After dominating the National in 2022, Sandy Alcantara did not have the season of his career in 2023. He sometimes got hit hard.
He was ultimately unable to finish the season due to injury. He was therefore not able to make the difference in the playoffs.
But the worst has just been announced.
You know like me that the time comes to talk about the worst for a pitcher, it is obviously to refer to a Tommy John type operation. Today is no exception.
On social networks, he published images, including one of him after his operation.
It’s a sad moment when a pitcher announces news like this. After all, that means he has (at least) a year without pitching.
He says he has confidence in his friends in the Marlins rotation to hold the fort. But clearly, even if they have good pitchers, we know that without him, it will be quite difficult to stay the course.
Hopefully in 2025, he will be able to return to his 2022 standards. That would be good for the Marlins, obviously, but especially for the baseball world in general.
- Rivalry first, friendship then.
- Billy Eppler really seems to be in trouble.
