Tonight, for the last time of the season, we will be treated to two duels in the MLB. The Phillies will host the Diamondbacks at 5 p.m. and the Astros will host the Rangers at 8 p.m.
The good thing is that the series in question are close. Unlike the first two rounds, there are series that keep us on the edge of our seats.
With the Rangers forcing a Game #7 yesterday, we will be treated to a first Game #7 in the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
I know that in baseball. several series are not 4-of-7 in the playoffs, but still.
Both Texas teams therefore face elimination, as do the DBacks. They will have to beat the Phillies to have the right to play Game #7 tomorrow.
Otherwise, the Phillies will go to the World Series.
It is therefore only the Phillies who do not face elimination and if they win, we could, as of this evening, know the identity of the two World Series teams.
Here are the issues to watch for the three teams facing elimination this evening.
Houston : With Cristian Javier on the mound, the club should be in a drive. He is a good pitcher who can help his team win.
And without Bryan Abreu, who appealed his suspension which will be decided on his fate today, Javier will possibly have one less reliever to rely on.
Because yes, I expect his suspension to be reduced to one match, namely tonight’s.
That said, in the Texas series, all six wins came on the road. Since the start of the series, the Astros have had a bad record at home. Can they turn the tide?
Rangers : Max Scherzer has a lot of experience in matches #7, but he is older than before. He’s also not at 100% health, as we saw in Game #3 of the series.
Can he keep his people in the game?
Diamondbacks : Beating the Phillies in Philadelphia will not be a challenge to take lightly. Even if Merrill Kelly will be automatically, Aaron Nola will still be on the mound.
The crowd noise will really help the Phillies.
For the good of baseball, the Diamondbacks should win tonight, that said. After all. Game 1 of the World Series is Friday night.
If we could have at least one match tomorrow night, that would be it, right?
- Mike Trout must be proud of his Eagles.
- 35 games with at least two hits for Jose Altuve in the playoffs. He has 102 career playoff games.
