It was tonight that the Texas Rangers were trying to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks to win the World Series in Game #5.
The DBacks were trying to stay alive.
For the occasion, the two pitchers (Nathan Eovaldi and Zac Gallen) understood the importance of the moment, but it did not translate in the same way.
Eovaldi brought guys out on the trails repeatedly, but each time he managed to get through it. In the end, he did not give up a point in six innings of work.
How well was he doing?
In his six innings of work, the Diamondbacks were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and notably left the bases loaded to some extent. You can not make that up.
On the other side, after six innings of work, Zac Gallen had a scoreless game on his hands. He really had the wind at his back and he limited his shots.
But in the seventh inning, Corey Seager came across the plate to make it 1-0. That’s the only point Gallen gave.
The score remained the same until the ninth inning. And there, Paul Sewald, who had excellent series before the World Series, collapsed.
He gave up two quick hits before Jonah Heim made it 3-0. Thanks to Alek Thomas, who will have nightmares about his mistake in the field.
Then, Marcus Semien made it 5-0 via a well-placed long ball. That was it for the Diamondbacks, who lost in 5.
The Rangers therefore got their hands on the first World Series in their history.
