The Reds were victims of a historic comeback from the Pirates

Leading 9-0 after three innings, the Cincinnati Reds were sailing happily towards an easy victory yesterday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but they had no idea the conclusion of their duel against their division rivals.

In the end, the Pirates won by a score of 13-12, thus achieving the most significant comeback in their history.

This defeat, which occurred in front of their supporters, hurts the Reds who are still fighting to obtain their ticket to participate in the post-season series.

The Pirates scored 12 points in three innings to save themselves with this victory, which will be engraved in their history. The concession has existed since 1882.

Alexis Díaz, one of the most dominant relievers in the NL this season, allowed four earned runs and five hits in two thirds of innings, while suffering a sixth loss in 2023. Diaz has collected 37 saves so far this season.

The Reds suffered a fourth consecutive loss and found themselves two and a half games from a playoff spot.

In Los Angeles, the San Francisco Giants saw the Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw rule their stadium with the result that the locals won by a score of 7-0.

Kershaw (210) moved past legendary Don Drysdale into second place for Dodgers career victories. Don Sutton is the leader with 223 victories.

For his part, Mookie Betts set a new mark by producing a 105th run in a season as a leadoff hitter, a new record in the Majors.

The Arizona Diamondbacks, also involved in the playoff race, were unable to assert themselves yesterday because the doubleheader they were scheduled to play against the Yankees was postponed due to bad weather.

Humiliated the day before, the Miami Marlins bounced back in great style by beating the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 5-4.

Elsewhere, the Chicago Cubs, thanks to a solid performance from Javier Assad, who replaced Marcus Stroman, won 6-3 at home against the Colorado Rockies.

Finally, in San Diego, the Padres lost 5-2 in 11 innings to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals thus ended a streak of eight consecutive victories for the locals.

Stay tuned, because the race for the National series will be exciting until the very end.
