The Phillies are officially qualified for the playoffs

The race for the series in the National is really interesting at the level of the best second-placed teams. Several teams can aspire to qualify.

Right now, four teams are within 2.5 games of each other: the Diamondbacks, Cubs, Marlins and Reds.

Last night, the DBacks won, as did the Reds. The Cubs lost to Atlanta, which collected its 101st victory of the season.

The Marlins didn’t lose their game in New York, but they wasted their time since the game was postponed. They will play a doubleheader at Citi Field today.

A little lower in the standings, the Giants and the Padres faced each other. San Diego won 4-0, effectively eliminating the Giants from playoff contention.

As we can see in the standings, the Padres are not eliminated, even if they have the same record as their neighbors San Francisco. It’s just a tiebreaker. Their elimination is coming.

Still looking at the standings, we also see that the Brewers officially won their division for the third time in six years. The club will officially finish third in the National League.

They will therefore welcome the worst team in the National which will qualify for the playoffs.

But they were not the only ones yesterday to bring out the champagne. For what? Because for a second year in a row, the Phillies are in the playoffs.

The club, comfortably installed in first place among the drafted teams, should finish there and host a 2-of-3 series in a week.

The Phillies therefore set out to defend their title of National champions.

We saw that the guys, who knew that qualifying for the playoffs was becoming more and more imminent, celebrated properly.

10th round
  • Luis Arraez doesn’t look like a guy in great shape.
  • 35th circuit for Juan Soto.
  • Corey Seager was injured yesterday. No fracture in his case.
  • 300 home runs for the Braves.
  • A first game of two circuits for Elly De La Cruz
