In a game where all the pressure was on the Baltimore Orioles, they did not do well and now find themselves with their backs against the wall.
However, everything started well for the Orioles, since Aaron Hicks (yes yes, you read correctly) produced the first two points of the match in the first inning thanks to a timely single.
But from their next turn at bat, the Texas Rangers gave the Orioles a nightmare and completely destroyed the atmosphere at Camden Yards.
And all this, without using the long ball. Indeed, a productive double and three singles gave the Texan team a 5-2 lead.
But that wasn’t all. In the next inning, the Rangers’ devastating attack once again raged, this time with a home run, and not least a grand slam from top hitter Mitch Garver.
The Orioles responded timidly in the bottom of the fourth inning, adding two runs, before the two teams exchanged runs in the fifth.
Then, in the ninth round, Hicks came back to charge, sending Jose Leclerc’s shot to the other side of the fence, producing three points in the process, but it was too little too late, the Rangers speeding blithely towards an 11-8 victory.
In the defeat, pitcher Grayson Rodriguez and his booming 27 earned run average only lasted an inning and two thirds, while on the winning side Jordan Montgomery did a little better, allowing five runs in four rounds of work.
Baltimore now trails 2-0 in its series and faces elimination. The two rivals will resume hostilities on Tuesday, but this time at Globe Life Park, while Nathan Eovaldi will be on the mound at home for Texas. As for the Orioles, nothing has been announced yet regarding their starting gunner.
