I don’t know if you find that the teams that are still alive lack attack, but I can tell you that it is indeed the case.
Since the beginning of the playoffs, collectively, it is the Padres who have the best average of the teams still alive. And with a snoring .233, that’s nothing to get our leg hairs excited.
It’s nothing very impressive. Only the Astros have an OPS over .700 among teams that are still alive.
And on that, they had an 18 inning game with only one small run on the clock.
It’s true that pitchers are good in today’s MLB. That said, balls are supposed to benefit hitters, right?
In short. All that to say that the teams that know how to be opportunistic will be able to go for victories. After all, besides yesterday’s 8-5 game in San Diego, the marks have been low in baseball for a few days.
Let’s not forget that it’s the pitchers who win MLB championships. This is the feeling that arises among owners today, who will be more likely to want to pay pitchers than hitters for the future.
It’s also why Jacob deGrom could earn more per year than Aaron Judge this winter…
