Pitcher Trevor Bauer is always the talk of the town. Whether he is suspended or playing, whether he has a club or is looking for a new team, he always finds a way to get people talking about him.
After the Los Angeles Dodgers announced his release, Bauer released a statement saying they wanted him back and pitching for them.
Following this publication, the president of the California formation, Stan Kasten, confirmed that the team had spoken with the right-hander before releasing him, without however disclosing the details of this meeting.
I’m not going to confirm or deny anything about what was supposed to be a private conversation. I will simply say that in a very short time, we made our decision. I think that speaks for itself. We had time to check all avenues, to get all the information to make a decision. And that included hearing from Trevor, because we hadn’t spoken to him all along. I stand by our decision. I’m very comfortable with that.
For his part, the president of baseball operations of the Dodgers, Andrew Friedman, agrees with the decision that was made on the future of Bauer in Los Angeles.
What the commissioner’s office and independent arbitrator reviewed and the longest suspension of all time Bauer has served was enough for us. We are happy with our process and what got us to where we are now.
The 32-year-old hasn’t pitched in the majors since June 2021 and no one can predict if he’ll set foot on an MLB court again.
