After the spectacular comeback of the Atlanta Braves in the second game of the Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, the baseball world wondered how they would react.
And let’s say that the start of the third meeting did not dispel the doubts. Indeed, after registering the first four hits of the game, the Georgia representatives finally took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, courtesy of Ozzie Albies’ single.
But that was not knowing Bryce Harper very well. After Nick Castellanos’ solo homer in the Phillies’ next at-bat, Harper imitated his teammate by sending Bryce Elder’s offering to the moon, producing three runs for his team.
As if Philadelphia had learned from its mistakes, the City of Brotherly Love hitters continued their momentum straight after, adding two more runs thanks to JT Realmuto’s timely double.
Result of the races after three innings: 6-1 in favor of the Phillies, the Braves starter having already been taken out of the game by his manager.
Then, the man of big occasions, as Marc Griffin so aptly calls him, did it again with another long ball at the end of the fifth inning, this time solo.
It was enough for starter Aaron Nola, who despite a shaky start, muzzled the powerful Braves attack until the sixth inning, manager Rob Thomson getting the hook out with two outs.
The Braves then took the opportunity to add a point to their record, but it was too little late, the Phillies conning no less than six long balls and sailing happily towards a convincing victory with a score of 10 to 2.
The two rivals will cross swords once again tomorrow evening, while Atlanta faces elimination, still at Citizens Bank Park. This heavy task will fall to Spencer Strider. As for the Phillies, nothing has been announced yet as to who will take the mound.
