The Blue Jays still have fun at the expense of the Red Sox

The least we can say is that Blue Jays batters and pitchers are taking advantage of the Boston Red Sox’s visit to the Rogers Center to polish their art in anticipation of the next playoffs which will begin shortly.

Just yesterday, the Toronto offense was ruthless scoring 10 times as Ross Stripling continued his good work habits on the mound. Result: the Jays won by 10-0.

Who would have thought at the start of the season that Stripling would reach the tenth mark in terms of victories, he whose presumed role was to shuttle between the bullpen and the rotation of starters? The veteran is very methodical in each of his starts and yesterday he collected a tenth victory in 2022.

During this offensive game, Quebecer Otto Lopez took the opportunity to score a first career hit, on his 24th birthday, a single that went through the middle of the infield in the seventh inning. For Lopez, it was only his second career at bat.

With this single, it is therefore to say that the three Quebecers (Abraham Toro and Charles Leblanc) who are currently playing in the Majors have struck in a safe place this season.

The second-straight win over the Red Sox puts the Jays a game and a half ahead of the Seattle Mariners in second-best standings. Seattle won 5-1 over the Oakland Athletics yesterday, while the Tampa Bay Rays lost to the Houston Astros 2-1.

Going back to yesterday’s attacking festival, Bo Bichette and Teoscar Hernandez contributed in a big way by hitting the ball in a safe place four times each. For his part, Danny Jansen drove in half of his team’s runs, thanks in part to his 15th home run of the season. George Springer and Raimel Tapia also added their personal contribution to the final score which totaled 21 hits.

Today, Michael Wacha will have the daunting task of silencing the Jays offense, while Kevin Gausman will jump on the mound for the locals.

The Blue Jays will end their season in Baltimore to face the Orioles three times.
