The Angels pulverized the Rockies by a score of 25-1

Yesterday’s game between the Los Angeles Angels and the Colorado Rockies, which ended 25-1, was not held at Recreational Stadium So-and-so as part of the beer league activities of the Saturday night.

Think again, because this massacre, all to the advantage of the Angels, took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and more than 45,000 spectators could only see the damage.

The Angels scored a whopping 13 runs in the third inning alone before adding eight in the following inning.

Phil Nevin’s gang used the feast to set new team records for runs scored and hits (28) made in a game. The 24-point spread is also a new team mark and is intended to be the third largest since 1900.

Mike Trout, Brandon Drury and Matt Thaiss hit back-to-back home runs, each time hitting Rockies starter Chase Anderson’s first shots on the other side of the fence. The latter left the game in the third inning after giving up nine runs and ten hits to the visitors.

Coming in relief in the fourth inning, Noah Davis was also the target of the Angels’ attack, giving up nine runs and eleven hits to the visitors in three innings of work. Worse, Matt Carasiti allowed the Californians to add six runs on four hits before getting the final out of the third inning.

Oddly enough, Shohei Ohtani didn’t add too much to the party, scoring just one hit in seven at bats. He produced a run.

Conversely, Hunter Renfroe and Mickey Moniak finished the game with five hits in five at bats. Six Angels batters drove in two or more runs in this historic game. David Fletcher has produced five on his own, playing only his ninth game this season.

With this win, more than decisive, the Angels maintain their second position in the Western Division standings in the American. As for them, the Rockies suffered a 49th defeat in 2023. They languish in the bottom of their division.

In short, a match whose result will be inscribed in the Angels’ record books and another outing to forget for the poor Rockies, who wore their uniform City Connect for the occasion.
