The Shohei Ohtani file is really taking over all the space in the MLB at the moment. We're all waiting to see what happens.
We don't yet know when he will sign… but the teams involved have a good idea.
But OK. In the end, even if the Angels are still in the file, we suspect that he will go elsewhere. And inevitably, the franchise will have to look elsewhere to recover.
Will this plunge the club into reconstruction? We'll see.
And in fact, the question on the table is this: will Mike Trout leave the franchise one day?
For the good of baseball, we should see it elsewhere. That said, it looks like he seems committed to Anaheim and he wants to win there.
He must receive more than $240 million for the next seven years and his health (his back) is playing more and more tricks on him. However, if he wants to leave and the Angels agree, clubs will want him.
But as GM Perry Minasian said, the plan is not to trade him.
It is not said that the outfielder will not be traded later, but at the moment, everything suggests that he will start the next season in Anaheim.
And that makes sense. For what? Because such a transaction would be huge and it will take time, if it happens, to complete.
I don't think that at this point, when nothing seems concrete in the case, it is logical to think that Trout could be on his way out. And since Ohtani has not yet left Anaheim, nothing has been decided.
I think we'll have to give it some time to see if Trout finally asks to leave.
