It was tonight that MLB unveiled its managers of the year in both leagues. We couldn’t wait to see who was going to save himself with the honors.
In the American, Terry Francona (Guardians) was chosen.
This is the third time he has won such an honor in his career. He also did it in Cleveland in 2013 and 2016.
My vote would have been for Brandon Hyde, but Francona did a great job with a young roster in Cleveland. He kept his health and it paid off for the Guardians.
As for Buck Showalter, he won the title for a fourth time. He did it with four clubs and in four different decades.
Only Tony La Russa and Bobby Cox have done it four times in all.
For the first time in Mets history, they have a manager of the year. It was also my choice in the National.
Both deserve their honor. They were also the favorites according to the bookmakers.
- The Royals are targeting a new stadium in Kansas City.
