Suspension: Kevin Brown defends the Orioles

A few days ago, word got out that the Baltimore Orioles hung a guy on their payroll: commentator Kevin Brown.

For what? Because he said things that didn’t make the Orioles look like the best team ever.

What is special when the commentator is paid by the club is that he is less free to say what he wants because he works for the team.

And when we see that he was suspended for saying that the Orioles had already had failure in the past in Tampa Bay, we see that the owner of the club has a sensitive skin.

After all, a visual chart demonstrates that it was on the game plan. And anyway, the fact that the club was pocket before May 2022 is not exactly a state secret.

The Orioles therefore ate the slap this week. And with good reason.

All that to say that after a few weeks off the air, Kevin Brown is back magically This evening. Of course, everyone was waiting to see his first words, to set the tone.

But Brown obviously won’t be firing red balls at the Orioles. He won’t raise money thinking that even if he loses his job, the industry is behind him.

Why am I saying that?

Because he released a statement that’s so lenient to his club that it looks like the owner wrote it, but Brown signed it. So he won’t say anything on the air.

Brown begins by saying that he enjoys telling stories, but not being inside them. What he wants to tell is the story of the Orioles, “the most exciting club in the American” in his eyes.

He adds that the media has misreported his relationship with his adopted Orioles. He has a wonderful relationship with the club, he says. He also says he is supported.

He later mentioned that he and the owner have “strong communication based on mutual respect”. He says he doesn’t want to be anywhere else.

Clearly, he didn’t want to make waves in this whole story. I understand in a way, but it’s still a shame.

Many people would have liked to see him get up and say loud and clear that he is going to see elsewhere – and with the popular favor of his side, he would have found a job.

But that won’t happen. He just wants to continue on his way as before.
