Spencer Strider is an excellent young pitcher. He had 200 strikeouts this season and the rookie quickly figured out how to become indispensable.
After starting the season in the bullpen, Strider has made his way into the Atlanta Braves rotation and he could well win Rookie of the Year.
In any case, what I know is that the title of rookie of the year of the National will be given to a young person from the Braves who has signed a medium/long term contract with the club.
It will be either Michael Harris II or Strider, who this morning signed a six-year contract valued at $75 million. An option year ($22 million in 2029) is also included in the contract.
The Braves bought a year or two of free range, which isn’t much. That said, Alex Anthopoulos avoided going to arbitration with another youngster.
After all, the heart of the roster is in Atlanta to stay, which is a good thing. Not everyone manages to do that.
Note that Strider isn’t 100% yet, and his presence in the Division Series roster is still uncertain – and if he is, his role is uncertain.
Remember that the Braves will host the Phillies tomorrow in Atlanta.
