After an exit that was too hasty in the eyes of Houston Astros fans, manager Dusty Baker decided to hang up his jacket and retiring from MLB baseball.
And it is precisely the expectations generated by social networks that got the better of the 74-year-old man. At least in part.
That’s according to his appearance on The Steam Room podcast, hosted by TNT personalities Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley. THE skipper pointed out that bloggers and tweets are one of the reasons for his retirement after the team’s playoff run this year.
We’ve had a lot of success here, and the last two months here haven’t been very pleasant, because we didn’t have a 10-game lead.
According to the main interested party, no one should expect a team to win every year.
Every year is different. There was a whole bunch of criticism from 30-year-olds, bloggers and tweets. And I said to my wife, “You know, I’m a little tired of this. If I could avoid the pre-game and post-game interviews, I could get by for another four or five years. ” You see what I mean? After a while, you get tired of answering questions.
It has the merit of being clear.
We can partly understand Baker, who maintained a winning percentage of .586 during his time in Houston.
However, criticism has been present since the dawn of time, it is only in a new form today. It’s part of the job the future Hall of Famer chose.
Happy retirement, Dusty.
