As you may know, Shohwi Ohtani signed a one-year contract valued at $30 million this year with the Angels. This brings him to the gates of autonomy.
Next year, he will make more money in major league baseball, but it must be mentioned that he is already not a man to be pitied. For what? Due to sponsorships.
He is associated with several companies, including New Balance. In all, he will withdraw $35 million from sponsorships in 2023 alone. That brings his total to $65 million for his earnings in 2023.
Still, huh?
Max Scherzer, Aaron Judge, Justin Verlander and Mike Trout, four players who play in either New York or the Los Angeles area, are the five highest earners in 2023 – sponsorships included.
Take the case of Judge. He will earn $40 million with the Yankees and $44.5 million in all. This means that he receives $4.5 million in sponsorships.
That’s $30.5 million less in sponsorships than Ohtani, who plays in Anaheim, anyway. I am frankly surprised by such a figure.
Max Scherzer seems to have a sponsorship fee that is close to $15 million, but otherwise the other stars are up to the Judge. I expected more.
Imagine how alone Ohtani will be in the world next year if he earns $50 million a year with his $35 million sponsorship. It will be rich in the medium term.
I can’t wait to see what he will invest his money in one day.
