Shohei Ohtani is linked to the Dodgers and Padres

What if this season Shohei Ohtani hits like in 2021 and throws like in 2022? Will he get the $600 million that some people think he can get?

It is possible yes. And it’s possible it’s happening somewhere other than Anaheim, where his talent is just wasted right now.

In my eyes, it is downright impossible to think that the Japanese will sign long-term in Anaheim. After all, he wants to win more than anything, which won’t happen there. To me, his future in Anaheim is like the peregrine falcon’s: it’s sketchy.

But he could win with the Dodgers.

In the facts, according to ESPNthe current rumor is that the pitcher has a good chance of signing with the Dodgers at the end of the season.

The club has made room on its payroll lately and everyone knows it’s to make a fabulous offer to whoever is currently playing in Anaheim.

It’s crazy how many people in baseball think he’ll sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers next year.

I hope no one falls out of their chair. After all, we suspect that the Dodgers have everything, on paper, to attract him.

For what? Because the club is good, it has money, it is in the West… AND IT WINS. This is the #1 aspect here in the eyes of the pitcher and hitter of choice.

That said, what might knock you out of your chair is the end where you can expect to see him being wooed by the…Padres?

The question is topical since people are wondering why Juan Soto and the San Diego club did not negotiate a long-term contract this winter.

Obviously, the Padres gave the Nationals the moon to uproot him from Washington. We agree that ideally, the club would keep him.

That said, I wonder if Soto will want to sign long-term next winter, he who will be a year away from autonomy. And Scott Boras likes to establish the value of his customers in the autonomy market.

If he doesn’t want to sign, could the Padres turn to Ohtani? It’s a possibility on the table right now, depending on what’s been circulating.

That would be the icing on the sundae.

  • The Orioles will have to spend.
  • The hope of the Blue Jays is better.
