I recently decided to check out the stats of some players in MLB. And it was while clicking on the pitching stats that I realized that Shohei Ohtani currently has the best earned run average in MLB.
Obviously, this only includes qualified pitchers, who pitched at least one inning per team game. It takes away relievers and guys like Isiah Kiner-Falefa…
We note that there are still many good pitchers who are under the 1.00 bar, but no pitcher is under the 0.50 bar.
What we notice is that the batters hit .100 against Ohtani (only Jeffrey Springs does better), but the Angels player hits .288 himself.
No, the power is not there at the start of the season (three circuits only), but the rest of Shohei Ohtani’s game is going very well. He is exactly the player the Angels need.
Well, his club still plays for less than .500, but it’s not his fault, he who already has a WAR of 1.7 in three weeks of play.
But OK. All that to say that this morning, at 11 a.m., Ohtani will make his fourth start of the season at Fenway Park in Boston.
He will pitch against fellow countryman Masataka Yoshida, with whom he became world champions last month in the World Baseball Classic.
No need to remind you that in a few months, Ohtani will be free as the air and that he will therefore be able to sign with the formation of his choice.
And if he continues to play like this, he will drive up the prices.
