Early this morning, Shohei Ohtani played his first official World Baseball Classic game this year. The representative of Japan was throwing and batting at the third rank as the hitter of choice.
And let’s say it didn’t disappoint.
Because baseball has just started again and it’s early March, no one expected to see him pitch seven innings. He did however, against China, he did very well.
In fact, we quickly realized that he was in good shape.
In fact, in four innings of work, he passed five batters in the mitt and gave up no walks… nor any runs.
He only gave up one hit, which is obviously a great performance. He can thank his defense, but still: he was excellent.
And of course, he didn’t just throw.
No, the Chinese don’t have the toughest team in the tournament, but Ohtani still managed to walk an early game…and hit a two-run double.
In fact, he showed up at bat five times…and four times (two walks and two hits) he made it to the trails.
No one else can do what he can do.
- The Yankees have effective ticket sales.
- Nine strikeouts in three innings for Max Scherzer.
