Shohei Ohtani doesn’t mind the deal rumors

Right now, Shohei Ohtani is the center of attention in the baseball world. Because of his talent and his contractual situation, it’s normal.

Everyone gets questioned about it.

Because his contract expires at the end of the year and because the Angels haven’t been going anywhere recently, rumors are swirling. Especially because of his big season.

But whether it’s with the upcoming deadline or whether it’s via the free agent market in a few months, Ohtani isn’t worried about it. Or at least that’s what he tries.

He released the classic “I control what I can control”, but being him, I don’t think I would worry about that in the short term.

After all, he won’t be traded by the Angels. I am sure of it. It would be the right thing to do to revive the franchise, but they won’t.

And then it’s up to him to decide. And as everyone knows, he will undoubtedly make the decision to leave.

For what? Because he’s really, really tired of losing.

Losing sucks. I want to win.

– Shohei Ohtani

Ohtani, who is a calm guy who doesn’t like to make waves, said black on white that he doesn’t like to lose. He spoke clearly and the bosses in LA need to get the message.

But still: I have a feeling the Angels are going to keep sticking their heads in the sand.

I understand management not wanting to be ‘the club that traded Ohtani’, but not surrounding him properly is going to end up hurting the franchise.

To be continued, then.
