Shohei Ohtani: $20 million within 10 years, $680 million thereafter

Shohei Ohtani signed a $700 million contract with the Dodgers. On average, that's $70 million per year since it's over 10 years.

We knew that the main party had asked for deferred money, to be paid after the end of the contract. For what? So the Dodgers can use money right now to win.

It was his idea…and let’s just say he took it to the max.

According to several people, he will earn two million dollars per year for 10 years. Subsequently, over the next 10 years, he will receive the remaining $680 million. You read correctly.

What this means is that his salary impact, for luxury tax purposes, will be $46 million instead of $70 million. I don't know how they achieved such a result.

The Dodgers will therefore be able to have more freedom to build a great team around him.

When we said Ohtani wanted to win, we didn't know how much. Only two million dollars per year and the rest paid without interest afterwards, not everyone would have said yes.

But Ohtani is a bitch.

Note that the Dodgers will make tens of millions of dollars per year in marketing on his back. They will therefore be winners for 10 years. And afterwards, they will have crazy expenses for a retiree.

Bobby Bonilla will be jealous…

Note that Ohtani makes, according to estimates, $50 million per year in marketing on his side. So he doesn't need the money as such.

He's preparing for a nice retirement, let's say.
