After a very disappointing start to the season offensively in 2023, the New York Yankees have made the decision to get rid of their hitting coach Dillon Lawson in order to replace him with former Cincinnati Reds, Sean Casey.
But now we have learned in the last hours that the latter’s reign will only have been very short-lived, even if the captain of the club, Aaron Judge, had given a vote of confidence to Casey at the end of the year, calling him one of the best guys in baseball he’s ever had the chance to be around.
Indeed, in his podcast The Mayors Office, the main person affirmed that he would not be back with the Bronx Bombers for the next campaign, citing family reasons.
I have my two daughters at home. Since I got divorced a few years ago, I have the girls 50% of the time. I just can’t imagine being away for eight months.
At this point, it’s still unclear who might be an attractive option for the Yankees to fill this new vacancy.
In 2023, the Yankees finished with the second-worst batting average in team history with a mediocre .227. New York also ranked 27th in MLB in on-base percentage at .304, 29th in hits with 1,207 and 25the rank for points scored with 673.
This hole to fill is therefore added to those already present that can be found in left field and in the starting rotation, to name just a few.
Note, however, that according to certain sources, the Yankees did not find it aligned with what we see in the organization’s subsidiaries.
