In Quebec, the Expos dream never really died. Sometimes all it takes is a small spark to rekindle the fire of desire in the file.
However, we suspect that this will not go through a process of expansion. For what? Due to pricing and due to multiple cities being in the process of bringing a 31st and 32nd team into MLB.
That’s why the shared custody plan made sense..
But OK. All that to say that according to what Jeff Passan reports, the city of Salt Lake City, in the state of Utah, would like to join the party.
Gail Miller, who was the owner of the Utah Jazz (NBA) at the time, would be at the head of the project.
It should be mentioned that the group in charge of the project would also be ready to bring a club through the moving process, but this is less likely.
For what? Timing.
The Rays are currently working for a stadium in Florida and the A’s are really lining up to head to Vegas.
The advantage of the Kansas City market is that we are talking about a city that is growing at high speed. So it’s interesting for MLB on that.
It’s also a former Olympic city that’s aiming to host the Games again and it’s a city that’s doing well in the AAA. The Angels affiliate club is located there.
Media-wise, it’s bigger than Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Kansas City and San Diego.
Obviously, if the city wants a club, it will fight against opponents like Montreal, Vegas, Nashville, Portland and Charlotte. It is therefore not won in advance, but it is to be continued.
