Ron Washington was hired to be fired

Until proven otherwise, the Los Angeles Angels will always remain the Los Angeles Angels, a team that too often attracts attention for the wrong reasons. Too often, if not always.

And the fact that the Californian team has hired Ron Washington to become their next manager is no exception to this rule.

In fact, the 71-year-old man was hired only to be fired. And the result will be in no way up to him. Poor Ron…

Nothing has changed under the hot California sun. The Angels only won 73 games last season and although Phil Nevin lacks the caliber of a major league manager, he had nothing to do with that poor record.

Whether the Angels in our campaigns put Shohei Ohtani under contract during this off-season or not will change absolutely nothing.

Los Angeles will not be competitive as long as the $38 million salary awarded to Anthony Rendon to keep the infirmary busy remains on their books, a pact that does not expire for three years.

Meanwhile, Washington only has a two-year contract.

So everyone knows that there is no excitement around the club and that it will be the same story in the coming years, except perhaps Washington.

I’ve heard a lot of negativity about alignment. But here, those on the outside are just going to have to wait and see what happens, while everyone on the inside knows what’s going to happen. There will be nothing but positivity here.

We can only wish the charismatic the best skipperbut we must admit that his mandate unfortunately risks being short-lived.
