Rangers don’t like their chances on Jacob deGrom right now

This morning, the excellent Ken Rosenthal offered a big update on several issues in major league baseball. From the lot? That of Jacob deGrom.

I invite you, for those who subscribe to The Athletic, to read his paper.

Inside, there is an update of the Jacob deGrom and Justin Verlander dossier. In fact, according to what the journalist reports, at the moment, the Rangers do not necessarily like their chances in the two files.

They believe they have more success with guys like Kodai Senga or Carlos Rodon. And Rosenthal is not the first to link Rodon to the Texas club.

What’s interesting for the Mets is that the two most cited clubs in deGrom’s file are the Rangers and them.

Will seeing the Rangers believe less in their chances positively affect the Mets? Maybe, indeed.

I don’t think the Braves, another club often linked to the star pitcher, will be “desperate” enough to give deGrom so much money. After all, they have a nice rotation.

If deGrom were to sign with the Mets, would that open the door for Justin Verlander to sign a contract with the Dodgers?

Do not forget, however, that in each folder there are often shadow formations. We are talking about clubs that do not make the headlines, but are present.

Is there any for deGrom? Maybe yes.
