Randy Arozarena would like to play in Mexico in 2024

One of the darlings of baseball, Randy Arozarena, took advantage of his visit to San Diego to send a message to the leaders of the MLB. He took advantage of the platform offered to express his desire to see his team, the Rays, play a series of regular season games in Mexico during the next campaign.

Recall that on April 28 and 29, the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants faced each other at the Estadio Alfredo Harp Helúfrom Mexico City, and that the event was a resounding success.

Proud to wear the colors of Mexico

Arozarena was born in Cuba, but defected to Mexico when he was 19. He considers himself Mexican and even has citizenship since 2022.

During the World Baseball Classic last March, the outfielder stole the show when the Mexican team, for which he wore the colors, was in action. His charisma, his intensity and his passion during meetings ensured that the Mexican people really adopted him! That even the planet’s baseball fans, like myself for that matter, had adopted it!

It is in this sense that several compatriots came to see him at work wearing his Rays shirt or the national team shirt during the clashes against San Diego. He feels that he has the love of the people of his adopted country and that this would be a golden opportunity for him to demonstrate, in turn, all the love and gratitude he has for the leader’s country. AMLO.

Teams to be confirmed

Although the event itself has been confirmed for 2024, the line-ups have not been confirmed. However, the renowned Ken Rosenthal quoted last month that according to what he had been allowed to hear, the two clubs participating in the series would be the Houston Astros and the Colorado Rockies. The objective would be to see a club from each league participate.

It is certainly that a club like the Astros would make sure to attract crowds. First, because of the geographical proximity between Texas and Mexico, because the two territories are contiguous. In addition, there is a large Mexican community in Lone Star State, which would generate interest on both sides of the border. Finally, remains that the Astros have a very good ball club.

For the Rockies, that’s where I’m less certain. From where perhaps the idea of the main interested party of this text who could make his merry way to the high authorities of the league, who knows?
