Rafael Devers damaged the management of the Red Sox

But what are the Red Sox doing? No one seems to understand right now.

The club, which will be at the heart of a filming for Netflix in 2024, obviously does not want to do everything to win in 2024. Many free agents looked elsewhere after negotiating with Boston.

Take the example of Teoscar Hernandez, who made it very clear that he wanted to play in Boston, but that the club's offer was not up to par.

But the dissatisfaction is clearly visible among the existing players. Kenley Jansen, who signed for two years last year, is frustrated with the direction the Sox are heading.

But in the “I’m frustrated and I’m saying it” category in Boston, the winner is clearly Rafael Devers.

The third baseman signed a long-term contract with the Sox just a year ago and already he seems to sense that management is changing… direction, that is.

The plan that the club bosses proposed to him no longer necessarily seems to hold in place, in light of the third baseman's comments.

Although he said he likes the club's roster, Devers also said “everyone knows what the club needs” to get to the next level.

In fact, the journalists present in Fort Myers (at the club's camp) affirmed that they had rarely felt such a direct Devers.

Devers, who doesn't want to be the star of the current Netflix documentary, spoke to management. He says, following this, that what is happening is not consistent with what he was told last year when signing long term.

He also says that players want to win, including him. However, there are steps to get there and he feels that the club is not in action.

I don't think Sox management is happy to hear the club's star make such comments. That said, bosses are the architects of their own misfortune.

  • Do you like these caps? They're for training camp.
  • Jonathan Papelbon wants Anthony Rendon to shut up.
  • Are the Yankees still in buy mode?
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went to the arbitration session not to lose. It feels like 2021 though.
