Quebecer Pier-Olivier Boucher drafted by the Braves

Rounds three through ten of the draft took place in major league baseball today. We were watching to see if any guys from here were going to be drafted.

And among a few Canadians, Quebecer Pier-Olivier Boucher was chosen.

Boucher is a guy from Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce who plays in the outfield. He plays in college in Illinois and is a left-handed hitter.

He was chosen 309th overall.

Interestingly, the Braves are managed by Alex Anthopoulos, who is a Quebecer. This means that he trusted the talent here.

Last year, it was Cédric De Grandpré who was the choice of the Braves.

Note that Boucher is a young man of 23 years. So he’s ready for pro baseball after a few years in college. I can’t wait to see if he will agree with the Braves on the terms of a contract.

This is excellent news for baseball here. I can’t wait to see if tomorrow there will be other guys who will be drafted.

Remember that at the moment, many Quebecers play in the AAA. Charles Leblanc, Abraham Toro and Otto Lopez are there.

And obviously, Édouard Julien (Twins) is in the Majors.

round 10
  • Is Mookie Betts ready for the home run contest?
  • Jackson Holliday in the AA.
  • Shohei Ohtani wants to win.
