Yesterday evening, the Philadelphia Eagles lost the Super Bowl at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. It will have been quite a football game… even if the end was controversial.
What’s interesting to note is that Philadelphia fans haven’t been spoiled for a few months. Yes, some teams make it far enough in the playoffs, but they aren’t able to capitalize and win a championship.
Last fall, the Union (MLS) and the Phillies lost in their respective league finals, and here it was the Eagles who escaped.
It makes for shared emotions, doesn’t it?
We can wonder if the 76ers (NBA) will suffer the same fate in the spring, they who are well placed in the standings at the moment.
The Flyers, them… ah, let it be.
For the people of Kansas City, seeing the Chiefs dominate helps a bit since it is not the Royals (of which Patrick Mahomes is a shareholder) who will make the difference in the short term.
The Chiefs quarterback, who was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in time, also got his hands on another MVP title last night. He is really strong.
But OK. You and I know that the end of the Super Bowl now means that baseball is in the waiting circle.
This week, pitchers and receivers will travel to Florida and Arizona to begin preparing, as a group, for the next season.
The first training camp matches will get under way in about ten days. Casually, after long months without a ball, it will be good.
Recall, for Blue Jays fans, that all of the club’s spring games in Dunedin will be televised on Sportsnet.
