Pete Alonso could have ended up with the Brewers after the trade deadline

It’s no surprise to anyone that the New York Mets’ situation is certainly not ideal.

Unable to reach the next level, it will be another season below expectations for the New York team.

If Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander left for other skies, it could also have been the case for the Polar Bear, Pete Alonso.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Milwaukee Brewers came very close to getting their hands on Alonso. On the side of the Mets, the transaction would not have been close to being completed.

Obviously, in order not to lose face in public, easier to say after the fact…

One thing is certain, Alonso was indeed part of the rumors sending him to Wisconsin.

Option year

After the 2023 season, there will be a year in New York for Alonso. Year in control of the Queens team.

The question is therefore complete. What will the Mets do after next season with Alonso? It could well be traded before.

Ken Rosenthal is adamant, however. Alonso is a unique power hitter and still had his share of success with the Mets.

However, it could help a team that wants to move to the next level.

For his part, Pete Alonso maintains “that he does not know the future”, but that he “likes to play for the organization of the Mets”.

If Ken Rosenthal isn’t sure that the future of the “Polar Bear” is in New York, well, we’ll have to see what the Mets’ senior management intends to do with this file.

Note that the senior management of the Mets could change. Rumors send David Stearns to New York. He’s a former… Brewers guy.
