When you make more mistakes than you register hits, you deserve teasing.
And that’s exactly what former New York Yankees rival Pedro Martinez did. Indeed, on the airwaves of the TBS network, Martinez compared them to chihuahuas.
It’s incredible. It’s hard to see the Yankees go this way. I remember watching them at the start of the season, when they were doing well. They looked so confident. It was like watching a bulldog beat up a chihuahua. Now they look like the Chihuahuas of any other team, especially a good team like the Atlanta Braves. Looks like there’s not even a match.
Who can contradict the former Montreal Expos? Person.
The Yankees are now playing for a .500 record, their first this late in the season since 1995. They currently have a three percent chance of making the playoffs, according to Fangraphs.
The Bronx Bombers have posted a 24-35 record since June 4, coinciding with the time captain Aaron Judge suffered a toe injury that sidelined him for nearly two months.
So there is clearly a lack somewhere within this formation and Martinez cannot seem to put his finger on it.
I don’t know what it is, whether it’s a question of trust or a question of character. But, they shouldn’t look so vulnerable.
I’ll give you a little hint, and Pedro as well: one of the explanations has the initials A and B. I’ll let you guess.
You have it?
Certainly, manager Aaron Boone is not solely responsible for this debacle. But he is most definitely part of the problem.
However, he is still in office, as if everything was swimming in oil.
Ah, those Yankees…
