Paul DeJong: three hits and four RBIs in his first game with the Giants

The Blue Jays, over the past few days, made the decision to release Paul DeJong due to the fact that he wasn’t producing anything at all offensively.

In 13 games, he had just three hits and a tiny RBI. To replace Bo Bichette, it was too little.

After being acquired from St. Louis at the deadline, the Blue Jays weren’t afraid to release him quickly and that made the Giants happy, who jumped at the chance to sign him.

With Brandon Crawford’s injury, why not?

And in light of what happened today, I don’t think the Giants regret getting their hands on the minimum-wage player.

For what? Because he hit the ball three times in a safe place in addition to driving in four runs in an 8-6 (10 innings) win against the Phillies.

Returning to the Nationals after a “shattering” change of address when he left for Toronto, DeJong clearly enjoyed seeing the Giants beckon him.

At the same time, it’s not as if Toronto had treated him badly, we’ll tell each other.

I don’t know what awaits DeJong next (when Crawford will return), but he just gave the Giants a rather different first impression than in Toronto.

It can’t hurt, that. And if he does well batting at the bottom of San Francisco’s lineup, the club will make room for him in their playoff chase.

  • Six RBIs for Elly De La Cruz.
  • Robert Suarez got angry.
  • Jose Abreu: his position at first base is not assured.
