We are just over two months away from the MLB draft, which will be held from July 9 to 11.
This therefore gives us the opportunity to look at the hopes of the next Major League Baseball auction.
The Pittsburgh Pirates got the first pick through the lottery system, while the Oakland A’s were the big losers in the draw, slipping to sixth. For their part, the Minnesota Twins made the biggest leap, moving from thirteenth to fifth.
So, without further ado, here is the second version of the MLB Passion Mock Draft, the first version having been released last January.
1 – Pirates: Dylan Crews, OF, LSU
Being the best player in the vintage, Crews can do anything on a baseball field. Although he can play in center field, his place will be on the corners of the outfield in the long term. The Pirates will be able to build around this pillar when he arrives in the Majors without asking too many questions.
2 – Nationals: Wyatt Langford, OF, Florida
A great progression for the Floridian outfielder, who was ranked sixth in our last ranking. Able to play in center field and bring his share of offensive, Langford knows more and more success, but not to the point of dislodging Crews. Not at the moment, at least.
3 – Tigers: Max Clark, OF, Franklin Community HS (IN)
No doubt Clark will be able to play in center field in the big leagues. He can certainly improve his power, but as the first hitter in an offensive lineup, the outfielder will be an important asset both at bat and on the trails.
4 – Rangers: Paul Skenes, RHP, LSU
The right-handed gunner could move up the ranks very quickly within the minor levels of the formation that will draft him. His 100+ MPH fastball combined with a devastating slide could wreak havoc in MLB.
5 – Twins: Chase Dollander, RHP, Tennessee
Although he has slipped in the standings for the past few weeks, Dollander could prove to be a boon. His unusual gear change could make the difference in his career and restore him to the title of best pitcher of the 2023 vintage.
