As usual, the San Diego Padres have been quite busy since the last World Series withdrawal. And that is not likely to change in the coming weeks.
After adding Xander Bogaerts and Matt Carpenter, the California squad would now listen to offers from other MLB teams for infielder Ha-Seong Kim and outfielder Trent Grisham.
From what we can hear through the branches, the Padres don’t seem to want to continue spending on the free agent market, even if there are a few pieces missing from the puzzle.
So that’s where a deal comes in and Kim and Grisham’s names surface.
Currently, the latter are expected to start the season as starters at second base and center field, respectively. That could change, however, once Fernando Tatis Jr.’s suspension ends in April.
The Miami Marlins, Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox, among others, could then be dance partners for a possible transaction involving one of the two protagonists.
It remains to be seen if San Diego will wait until the start of the next campaign to move or if an offer that cannot be refused will be on the table this winter.
