Other candidates decline interview for Red Sox GM job

Since the departure of Chaim Bloom at the helm of the Boston Red Sox, they have encountered several refusals in their search for a new general manager.

And it seems that their ordeal is not over. Indeed, we must now add two other names to the list of those who refused an interview with the Boston team, namely that of the general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers Brandon Gomes and that of Sam Fuld, who holds the same functions with the Philadelphia Phillies. Both have a president over their heads.

It’s true that baseball operations leaders rarely change jobs when they’re already running an organization, and number twos are often motivated to stay in place because of family concerns, financial stability, or uncertainty about job pressure. to be number one.

But this situation also indicates that the Sox organization is not entirely in control, since the position should be attractive with the possibility of being able to spend more and the young core of position players already in place.

However, the lack of stability within the staff of the Bas Rouges in recent years seems to be holding back more than one.

Seeing all these rejections, current Red Sox assistant general manager Eddie Romero is not only considered the favorite among internal candidates, but he also becomes the point favorite. This is what many think, including a source inside the organization.

Eddie should be the guy, in my opinion. Intelligent, bilingual, interpersonal skills, media knowledge, scouting experience, negotiation experience, has worked under four general managers and has the courage to take risks.

Despite everything, Boston continues its search and Minnesota Twins general manager Thad Levine is another candidate, who has accepted an interview.

Same story with James Click, the former Houston Astros.

It remains to be seen how this whole saga ends.
