The Saint-Louis Cardinals do not quite know the expected departure. Some even placed them in the World Series before this campaign began.
Instead, St. Louis is now one win-four in the first five games of a 10-game West Coast series. The formation of Missouri is now in last place in the Central Division of the National League, seven games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Plus, with yesterday’s loss to the San Francisco Giants, the Cards are guaranteed to have won only one series in the last 24 days.
How much longer can this go on without manager Oliver Marmol losing his job? Some skippers were shown the door for less than that.
With the roster Marmol has on hand, there’s no reason the Cardinals have been performing below expectations this season.
Players no longer seem to enjoy showing up at the stadium in the afternoon to prepare for the evening game. The pleasure seems to have left the shelter and some decisions of the manager do not help the cause.
Marmol’s fate could therefore be decided this weekend, when the Cards will visit the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The descent into hell cannot last indefinitely without the staff making a change.
It’s not too late: Talk to the 2022 Philadelphia Phillies.
