Nolan Arenado won’t win a Gold Glove this year

Since his arrival in major league baseball, Nolan Arenado has won the Gold Glove in each of his seasons. He is dominant at third base.

In his first 10 seasons, the Rockies and Cardinals player was practically a lock to win it. And with good reason.

But this year he won’t win it. For what?

Because the list of nominees (three per position) was released in both leagues and he was not nominated in the National.

I always thought that one day it would be KeBryan Hayes who would deprive him of a Gold Glove. Put your money on the Pirates kid.

Austin Riley and Ryan McMahom, Rockiesare also nominated. Ironic, right?

Note that Carlos Santana is the only National player to be nominated and to have played for two teams this season.

Note also that Mookie Betts is nominated for the Golden Glove in right field, but also for utility player. It’s not unique, but it defeats the purpose of the “utility glove” in my eyes, right?

On the American side, two teams have five nominees. the Rangers (Jonah Heim, Nate Lowe, Marcus Semien, Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia) are one.

The Blue Jays (Alejandro Kirk, Matt Chapman, Daulton Varsho, Kevin Kiermaier and Jose Berrios) are all nominated.

I believe Matt Chapman and Kevin Kiermaier are probably the players with the best chance of winning it. Daulton Varsho and Jose Berrios also have their chances.

And Alejandro Kirk?

He’s been good defensively (even if his arm is average), but I really see Adley Rutschman getting his hands on the honor in the American League.

It’s on November 5 that we will know who will win.
