Today is February 15. I would so love to be able to write to you that the pitchers and receivers of several teams are already at work in Florida and Arizona, but hey.
Obviously, this is not the case. And this, even if Rob Manfred has not yet officially postponed the start of the camp…
When will it be? We know that the camp will last at least four weeks and that it will start less than a week after the end of the labor dispute.
But as for the end of the coNFLict, it is impossible to establish a clear timetable since currently, no meeting is planned between the Players’ Association and the bosses.
Why is nothing planned? Because the offer submitted by the owners on Saturday was not to the liking of the costume, as the saying goes.
Players are looking for how to respond well to bosses. Have you been told that we should increasingly expect to see the start of the season postponed?
What blocks everything at the moment is (in particular) the way the Majors treat players from the Minors. In addition to not wanting to pay them during camp, now Rob Manfred wants to cut positions in the minors.
When you see how cheap it costs owners to pay young people, you might wonder if Rob Manfred really likes baseball. Truly.
And when we know that paying the young people is the nerve of the war of the coNFLict, we must conclude that it will be long.
Tell yourself that at least we have the performances of the Canadiens to clear our minds in these te– or not.
