The rumors that sent Nelson Cruz to the San Diego Padres were well and truly founded since the hitter of choice has just signed with the Californian club.
We are talking about a one-year contract.
Since last year, both leagues have been a possibility for him due to the presence of the universal choice hitter. It opens doors for him.
And in San Diego, the club is still looking for an attack, GM AJ Preller knew Cruz well in Texas and manager Bob Melvin likes him.
It is therefore a fit perfect.
The DH, who is the GM of the Dominican Republic at the World Classic, had a less good season in Washington last year, but he has since had surgery on his eye.
That should help him.
At his age (42 and a half), he may be in his last year in major league baseball. Will he go for a World Series ring at the end of the course?
- Poor guy. He has been DFA by several teams recently.
- Alex Anthopoulos opens up.
- Rafael Devers is happy to be in Boston long term.
