Since the emergence of Shohei Ohtani in the MLB, we feel that the baseball world is trying to make room for these players who excel both on the mound and at bat. After all, it’s very impressive to see guys perform like this, and it’s not for nothing that Ohtani will become a man. very rich this winter.
Not all players of the sort excel (Brendan McKay, for example, doesn’t really unlock), but clearly Ohtani’s talent and popularity motivate youngsters to give it a try.
And yesterday in the NCAA, we were treated to a moment reminiscent of the star of the Angels, as young Brady Ware put on a dominating performance. In fact, in one game, he hit a carousel in addition to pitching a game (of seven innings) without a run or hit.
And you, your Friday?
Ware plays for Indianapolis University, which is in the NCAA Division Two. He evolves regularly as a pitcher and hitter, but he is mainly used in relief when it comes time to pitch.
However, yesterday, he started the second game of a doubleheader, and he showed his talent. In seven innings, he passed no less than 11 batters in the mitt. He got caught with a few walks, but nothing more.
And at bat, he did most of the damage in the second inning. He started with a solo homer and added a triple that drove in three runs, all in the same inning. His team scored no less than eight points during this one.
He drove in another run with a double in the next inning and completed his fifth-inning carousel with a single. Because yes, he did it in just five rounds.
It was a most impressive performance for the youngster, who achieved two of the sport’s greatest feats in the same encounter. I wonder if that’ll get MLB teams eyeing him.
According to the NCAA, this is the first time in the history of the circuit that a player achieves these two feats of arms during the same game. And clearly, he can be proud, he who has achieved something that we will not see again anytime soon.
