Although the Division Series between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians is not over in the American League, the Championship Series will begin tonight in the National League. This means that there will be an overlap between the two duels, a first in the history of MLB.
It also means it’s time to get wet on the formation that will represent the National League in the next World Series. And that’s what our columnists did, so here are their picks without further ado.
Anthony: Padres in 6. A duel that we did not expect, but which should give rise to excellent baseball! A duel between Harper and Machado/Soto for true ball lovers.
Charles-Alexis: Phillies in 7. Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola will have to give their all, but the Phillies offense will be the difference.
Daniel: Padres in 6. The Padres hitters will find a way to take the team to the World Series this year.
Felix : Padres in 6. Midnight will strike for the Cinderella team in Philadelphia, which will still give the Padres a little more complete a hard time.
Jean-Francois: Padres in 6. Manny Machado will continue to carry his team to the World Series.
Maxim: Phillies in 6. One name: Bryce Harper!
Pascal: Padres in 7. The Padres no longer playing in the shadow of their Los Angeles rivals, they will finally be able to flourish. The transaction allowing San Diego to get hold of Juan Soto will pay off this season.
Pierre-Olivier: Phillies in 7. I couldn’t even tell you what will make the difference because the two teams have been at the same level since the start of the playoffs.
Raphael: Padres in 7. I think home field advantage will be key in this series.
Sebastian B.: Padres in 6. The series will be played in the bullpen and on the quality of the defense, two aspects that favor the Fathers.
Sebastian T.: Padres in 5. The Phillies who seemed in a state of grace against the Braves should come down from their cloud against a team that seems set to create a surprise. Bryce Harper will still distinguish himself, but it is the Padres and their fiery bullpen who will impose themselves with style and indisputably.
We can therefore expect a long series that will end with a victory for the San Diego Padres. But who can claim to know the outcome of this duel, especially considering all the surprises that the fall dance of 2022 will have brought us?
