This winter, the Texas Rangers made several signings, but it was Jacob deGrom’s that caught the eye.
Since the beginning of the season, he has offered exactly what was expected of him: he participated in six home wins… before getting injured.
But the one we talk about less is Nathan Eovaldi. After a few seasons in Boston, the pitcher put down roots on the side of Arligton and, in the shadows, he has an excellent season.
At what point? To the point where yesterday, against the A’s, he pitched 8.2 innings without giving up a run (12 strikeouts were made in the process)… and that’s not even out of the ordinary.
In fact, he is now 28.2 innings in a row without giving a run, which is pretty crazy. He gave nothing in his two games before Oakland… and the three sets of the game before also come into play.
Against the Yankees and Angels recently, he was really dominant too, throwing nine and eight innings respectively.
With the Rangers still trailing at the top of the American West, it’s clear that it’s going to take a little help to stay there.
And if Eovaldi keeps throwing like that, it will help.
- The A’s find an alternate plan.
- New club: watch Orlando.
- Adam Cimber is on his way back.
- He is back in shape.
