Chris Antonetti would be a wise Baseball Ops leader anywhere, but he turned down St. Louis, not considering Boston because of his loyalty to Cleveland. Remember, when Terry Francona retires, the only teams with more wins 2013-23 are the Dodgers, Yankees and Astros.

No Edwin Diaz this year

It’s the right decision. He will prepare for 2024.

News: Edwin Díaz will not return to pitch this season.

Díaz will continue to throw bullpen sessions until the end of September, but the team does not want to risk him in a game given his place in the standings. He’ll be ready for a normal offseason and the start of 2024.
