For the past two years, health problems have seriously started to catch up with Mike Trout. The Angels outfielder has back pain that will force him to be vigilant for the rest of his career – and his life.
This season, he has therefore been on the sidelines for 42 games. Already that the Angels do not have a club at the base …
Let’s say that Shohei Ohtani must have felt very lonely, which explains the elimination of the Angels, who will still miss the fall dance.
But ever since he returned, Trout has made his presence felt. The veteran hits the ball very well late in the season, having 20 RBIs in September.
One can’t help but wonder what his 2022 season would have looked like if he had more than 113 games on the clock.
After all, he still has 78 RBIs and no less than 38 homers. 38!
In MLB right now, only three players have more than 38 home runs: Aaron Judge (61, as you know), Kyle Schwarber (42) and Pete Alonso (40).
Trout is only second in the AL and fourth in the league.
If he had played all of his team’s games at the current rate, he would currently have 52 long balls. It would be a record for someone who has already hit 45 home runs in 2019… out of 134 matches.
Little is said about Trout because of the Judge, because of his injuries, because of Shohei Ohtani’s presence in Anaheim and because of his bad club, but let’s not forget that the center fielder is still a damn good player of ball. We’re going to wish him well now.
- Rich Hill wants to return to Boston in 2023.
- James Paxton is in Seattle right now.
